Shannon is a science communications and education specialist with a background in molecular and cellular biology research. She is passionate about using innovative digital media and educational design to support life science education and training, either online or in-person. She oversees a skilled and diverse team of storytellers, producers, educators, editors, and designers to achieve this vision. When Shannon was an Associate Director of iBiology, she co-produced three online courses that teach students how to build a research plan, how to design experiments, and how to give a presentation. Before joining iBiology, Shannon was a science communications manager at the National Cancer Institute. She received a BS in plant biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in cell biology at the University of California, San Francisco. In her spare time, Shannon loves exploring the outdoors, especially in places where you won’t find poison oak.
